About the Commons
A shared resource for stronger classroom assessment
The Classroom Assessment Commons is sponsored by the National Council on Measurement in Education Classroom Assessment Committee. It brings together publicly available resources that can support informed, equitable, and practical assessment decisions.
Resources are screened and reviewed by the Classroom Assessment Commons Resource Review Subcommittee, a designated subcommittee of the NCME Classroom Assessment Committee. The Commons shares resources for discovery and learning; it does not rank, endorse, or promote individual resources over others.
How resources are vetted
- Submit or identify: A resource is proposed, cataloged with descriptive metadata, and held out of the public catalog.
- Review independently: At least three reviewers record their identity, review date, rubric scores, and comments.
- Publish responsibly: The Resource Review Subcommittee confirms that the review threshold has been met before making the resource public. An authorized expedited-review decision is documented separately when needed.

Each criterion is scored from 1 to 4. The rubric supports consistent discussion and documentation, rather than a public ranking of resources.
